Borussia Dortmund and AS Roma coaches resign

Borussia Dortmund’s head coach Thomas Tuchel has left the club, the Bundesliga side confirmed Tuesday, denying that the departure was sparked by a public spat with the club’s chief executive.

The coach who was in charge for two years left days after after winning their first silverware for five years in the German Cup.

The 43-year-old, regarded as one of Germany’s most innovative coaches, led the club to a second-place finish in the Bundesliga last season and third place this term.

On Saturday, Dortmund won the German Cup with a 2-1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt, their first title since winning the Bundesliga and the Cup under Juergen Klopp in 2012.

While in Italy Luciano Spalletti stepped down as coach of AS Roma on Tuesday , just two days after leading them to a second-place finish in Serie A.

The 58-year-old coach, whose contract expires at the end of June, had taken over for his second stint in charge of the club in January last year.

Roma President James Pallotta said Spalletti, who led them to third spot last season, had made a “significant contribution”.
