Senegal - Ivory Coast friendly in France marred after pitch invasion

An international friendly between Senegal and the Ivory Coast ended abruptly on Monday at the Charlety Stadium in Paris after fans invaded the pitch in the 88th minute when the score was 1-1.

Referee Tony Chapron ended the match when the situation went out of hand after Senegal’s Lamine Gassama was tackled to the ground.

Before the invasion, Sadio Mane opened the scoreline with a penalty in the second half for Senegal, which was equalized by Ivory Coast’s Bi Gohi Cyriac three minutes later.

This is the second pitch invasion bringing a match between the two sides to an end after the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Dakar.

Senegal started its international friendly campaign on March 23, 2017 in London where they drew 1-1 with Nigeria.
