Cameroon train investigation reveal details of crash [The Morning Call]

The company that runs the rail network in Cameroon has given a possible cause of the trail derailment incident that killed about 80 people and injured hundreds. Contrary to early reports of the train being overloaded, they said the locomotive was moving at an unusual speed.

A senior official from Bollore African Railways said the train speed was ‘‘abnormally high compared to the speeds they should have had”.

A month long investigation had already been ordered by the country’s president Paul Biya, a decision experts have described will ensure accountability of the tragedy is finalized quickly.
