While addressing a press briefing, an official from Paris city hall said that there would be a ratio of 1:50 security officers to spectators, at the Paris fan zone outside the Eiffel tower

“I want to tell you that for Sunday’s match, if you add up the 1,400 police officers plus the city’s security personnel, with about 500 people, we have 1,900 people for 90,000 watchers, so the ratio is really good, of one security agent for less than 50 watchers“said Mathias Vicherat.

Already, France had deployed more than 90,000 security personnel to secure the tournament in addition to maintaining a state of emergency that has been in place since the November terror attack.

Barriers were also erected around the 80,000 capacity Stade de France stadium where the match will kick off at 1900 GMT.

France is hoping that Les Blues will thrash Portugal and lift the trophy in front of a home crowd.

The tournament was however blighted by incidents of football hooliganism that has not been witnessed in international competitions in the recent past.
