The iconic midfielder who is now 78, made his debut for the club 60 years ago as a teenager in 1956, before going on to score 249 goals in 758 games .
Former United manager Alex Ferguson, who already has a stand named after him, paid tribute to Bobby Charlton at a dinner afterwards saying his friendship with Charlton had been a great moment in his career with the club.
