Going by the title, Obi Chukwuka Noah Akaeze I, the secondary school student and first son of the late king, Obi Edward Ofulue III, took over his father’s throne after he was abducted and murdered by gunmen in January, 2016.

The coronation ceremony, held in Ubulu-Uku community in Aniocha South Local Government Area of the Delta State, was that of pomp and pageantry as prominent members of the community including political figures, traditional chiefs, religious leaders and the people of the community were present.

After the traditional rites were performed according to the customs of the land, the new King was presented to the royal family and the Aniocha South Traditional Rulers Council as the new ruler of the land.

According to reports by Nigerian media, the Secretary of the Palace, Joseph Obazei, who welcomed the new king, said the people of Ubulu-Uku are happy over the installation because their King never dies.

Joseph Obazei explained at the coronation ceremony that the installation was in line with the custom and tradition of the people which states that a king can only be said to be dead only when a new one is installed.

On the educational future of the teenage king, Obazei revealed that a regent would be appointed to manage the stool while the crowned king pursues his educational career.

Most communities in the northern Delta State, like Ubulu-Uku, practice primogeniture where the firstborn son succeeds his parents.
