Chad will hold its next presidential elections on April 10, the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) has announced .

Candidates for the presidency have from February 10 to 29 February to submits their applications. Should the first run not produce an outright winner, the run-off has been scheduled for May 9.
Two opposition candidates, Kassire Coumakoye and Malloum Yobode, have already announced their bid for the next presidential election.
Current President Idriss Deby is expected to get the nod from his party, Patriotic Movement of salvation (MPS) to contest on February 6.
President Deby has been in power for 25 years after toppling Hissene Habre in 1990. The Constitution was amended in 2004 to limit the number of presidential terms to two.
