Togo is unsure of winning a medal at this year’s Olympic games.
Rebecca Kpossi is the team’s flag bearer and hopes this year’s participation will be used as experience to grab medals in future.
“We are not going to Rio for the medals, because we haven’t prepared well enough in order to win a medal. But I hope that we can win a medal in four years. For now, we will go to Rio in order to defend our record and to learn more,” flagbearer of Togo’s Olympic team, Rebecca Kpossi said.
However, Togo’s Olympic committee believes there could still be a surprise.
“The athletes have given all they have in order to prepare for the events, and we hope to go as far as possible,” the president of Togo’s National Olympic Committee chair, Auguste Dogbo said.
Claire Ayivon, a participant in the rowing category says her best timing for now is around 8 minutes 54 seconds and she has to try and get down to 7 minutes.
Three athletes will be representing Togo in swimming while the two others will perform in the track and field events.
