4 Chadian troops killed in Boko Haram attack

Chad

Four Chadian soldiers were on Saturday killed by the Jihadists group, Boko Haram in a cross-boarder raid in the volatile lake Chad region.

“Around 8:00 pm (1900 GMT) on Saturday night, Boko Haram members attacked the Djoroye border post near the Niger border in the Lake Chad region killing four of our soldiers,” the source said.

In response, the Chadian army also killed seven of the Islamist group fighters.

Boko Haram’s strong holds in the Lake Chad Basin have experienced serious setbacks in recent times and have been forced to abandon some of their base in the north-east of Nigeria.

The group which has been waging an insurgency since 2006, wants to establish a caliphate in northern Nigeria.

Their battle has spilled across the boarders of neighbouring countries, including; Chad, Niger, and Cameroon.
