In February , he signed a new 2 year contract with the club, but came under pressure for failure to impress in the Champions League.

The club’s president Nasser Al- Khelaifi had hinted at changes earlier this month.

The 50 year old had previously held a spell as manager of France, but stepped down after losing the quarter finals of Euro 2012, to eventual winners Spain.

Former Sevilla boss Unai Emery, is highly likely to replace the Frenchman at the club.
