They further identified the affected pipelines as Chevron Oil Well RMP 23 and RMP.

The group which has carried out a series of crippling attacks on oil pipelines and facilities in the region had issued a warning on Monday warning giant oil multinationals based in the region saying that it will be a” bloody affair.”

The attacks continue to escalate even as President Muhammadu Buhari said he will visit Ogoniland in the region on Thursday to engage with leaders and discuss ways to tackle the renewed violence in the area.

However, the militants who accuse the president of ignoring local problems issued a warning on Wednesday saying that Buhari’s life is in danger if he attempts to visit the oil-rich Niger Delta region.

The pipeline attacks have lowered Nigeria’s oil production by almost 50 percent to about 1.1 million barrels per day from a high of 2.2 million barrels per day in January this year.
