Guinea
Active Ebola transmission has ended in Guinea, the World Health Organization (WHO) said on Wednesday.
This comes after the last Ebola victim in the country was confirmed negative after tests done 42 days ago.
With the WHO announcement, Guinea has been placed under heightened surveillance to ensure that the current situation remains the same.
“The good news is that the epidemic has been quickly regulated. We still have things to correct. But in this case the situation is under control . The measures put in place right now are more efficient. We have several vaccines which although not harmonized are really very efficient,” Marc Wajnsztok, an Ebola crisis Adviser in Guinea Conakry told the Morning Call on Africanews.
The most recent Ebola outbreak in Guinea occured between March 17 and April 16 during which at least five people died.

The WHO has expressed confidence that countries affected by Ebola are able to tackle any outbreak in an efficient manner. Guinea was first declared Ebola free in December last year.
