Recent frequent violence in the Niger Delta region has raised fears that the Niger Delta insurgency could likely resume.

Nigeria’s army has promised to crush militants who attack oil companies stressing that the militants will stand to regret the consequences of their actions.

The attack has pushed some oil companies to evacuate their workforce and has raised the level of alert around installations in the Niger Delta.

The Niger Delta has been requesting a share of oil revenue as they push for more development in the region.
