Tokyo Sexwale takes Gianni Infantino on Robben Island tour

Football

South Africa’s FIFA presidential candidate Tokyo Sexwale has toured Robben Island with his rival FIFA presidential candidate Gianni Infantino.

The move comes four days to a crucial FIFA election, taking place in the midst of arrests over sweeping corruption claims.

The South African’s campaign team said he invited all four other candidates to South Africa but Sheikh Salman of Bahrain, Prince Ali of Jordan and Jerome Champagne declined, citing “tight schedules”.

Sexwale who is outside the other powerful blocs, lost in his bid to garner support from African delegates. He has insisted he still remains a contender.
