Three jihadists have been killed in Tunisia, the country’s interior ministry said on Tuesday.
A member of the Tunisian security force was also wounded during an anti terrorism operation. The operation occurred in Gabés, South of Tunisia.
Security forces stormed the area after an alert and have seized arms and ammunition.
Although the jihadists have not been identified, the search operation continues.
Jihadists have been active in Tunisia after the ousting of Ben Ali during a 2011 revolution.
The Bardo National Museum, a leading tourists attraction was attacked last year in Tunisia by gunmen leaving at least 20 people dead.
At least 59 tourists were killed following the attack of a popular resort hotel. The suicide bombing of a bus also left 12 presidential guards dead in 2015.
