- Tosin Orogun is the Programme Manager for Africa Tobacco Control Regional Initiative (ATCRI), coordinating Media Communications and IT Campaign for in the region. With a background in journalism and field practice within and outside Nigeria, Tosin took full interest and career in tobacco control with strong bias for cross-border initiatives and partnership for tobacco control as evidenced by his involvement on multi-national tobacco control projects.
Currently, steering the media communication and internet campaign for the most ambitious tobacco control initiative in sub-Saharan Africa, Tosin's mix of cross-boarder journalism background, rich communication technology skills, and passion for public health communication forms the core background on which he operates, bringing the media along as his primary interest. - My connection to Africa
- As the manager overseeing media communication and IT for the Africa Tobacco Control Regional Initiative resource centre, my reporting and professional interest on public health covers the entire Sub-Saharan Africa.
My role involves monitoring and reporting on tobacco and cancer within the region, with the primary aim of educating the population, more specifically on tobacco, its consumption and attending health hazards. As a result of my role, I travel across a lot of African countries, which gives me more opportunity to gain first-hand interaction with information as it happens.
