- PROFILE OF MR. R.K.GARG
A graduate in Engineering from Punjab University, Mr. Garg began his career in Central Electricity Authority and thereafter moved to Engineers India Limited (EIL). Here he was associated with grassroots projects of Batinda Fertilisers & Mathura Refineries and worked till 1982. He joined M/s. Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. thereafter and headed various departments viz. Projects, Inspection & Advisory Engineering, Maintenance and Technical Services. His vast experience facilitated him heading the BPCL refineries in Mumbai & Numaligarh effectively.
Mr. Garg was also the Technical Advisor to NNPC, Nigeria for two years and his two year advisory role earned him much accoloades from the NNPC management. He was also deputed by BPCL to their Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) as General Manger (In-charge). Towards his relentless service to NRL, he was awarded the ‘Scroll-of-Honour” by different Non-Government Organisations (NGOs) of Assam. He was also a pioneer in initiating the charitable activities through the medium of Kalyani Club and also successfully carried out ‘Boundary Management’ in the terrorist-infected environment.
By virtue of his credentials and experience, he was invited as a speaker to deliver lectures in various seminars in U.S.A., Germany & France & Nigeria. As a token of recognition to his contributions, Institution of Engineers has conferred on him The Fellowship & IIW and NAICE have conferred on him The Membership.
Till October 2003, he headed a Government Refinery in Madagascar in the position of Managing Director and is responsible for the turn-around and made it a viable refinery. For this achievement he was conferred “ achievement Award” in the overseas sector by Governor of Maharashtra.
Till Oct 2006, Mr.Garg was with Petroleum India International as Director (Projects). Thereafter he accepted an assignment with a Multi national and multi disciplinary company as President (Projects). - My connection to Africa
- I have been the maintenance adviser to PHRC of NNPC during 93-95.I was involved in privatisation of PHRC which was subsequently annuled by HE President. I was Managing Director of Galana Refinery and was involved in its revival at a very low cost. I was involved in setting up a grass root refinery at Lagos. DPR had issued the license also.I was involved in refineries at Sudan and Djibouti.
