A presidential election will be held in Rwanda on 9 August 2010, the second since the Rwandan civil war.
Outgoing President Paul Kagame, of the Rwandan Patriotic Front, will stand for a second term.
He will face three other candidates: Jean Damascène Ntawukuriryayo (Social Democratic Party); Prosper Higiro (Liberal Party; and Alvera Mukabaramba (Party for Progress and Concord).
Top Rwanda genocide suspect arrested
The Ugandan police have arrested a pastor accused of organizing mass killings in Rwanda's 1994 genocide. Officials say Jean-Bosco Uwinkindi, who is on a UN wanted list, was detained on Wednesday 30 June 2010 after entering Uganda from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).Read more…Photography
