Africa Interactive is an online media company running an international, interactive and multimedia platform, with  a particular focus on Africa. The website www.africanews.com is one of our activities. Our Dutch website is www.afrikanieuws.nl

The aim of Africa Interactive is to inform each and every person having some interest in Africa about the multiple facets of that continent. We offer a podium to everyone willing to post his/her own stories on our website. Webloggers, writers, (citizen) journalists, photographers, filmmakers: every body is welcome.

Our databasecontains filmmakers, journalists, photographers, stringers and marketingexperts.We produce tailor made 'High-end' videos and 'Simple VideoReports' to showcase your activities in Africa.

Pieter van TwiskPieter van Twisk / Managing director
Graduatedin philosophy, Pieter chose for a career in media. He was untilrecently self employed as a media consultant.  Before that he waseditor-in chief of Planet Internet and Manager Content Production at KPNTelevision and Media.
Favorite place in Africa: Being a passionate diver, I have spent my best experiences underwater in the spectacular Red Sea!


Bertil van VugtBertil van Vugt / Content director
Bertilstudied journalism in Utrecht and International Relations at theUniversity of Amsterdam.  He lived six months in Cape Town, SouthAfrica, where he worked for the Cape Times newspaper.
Favourite place in Africa:Lion's Head, the mountain on the right side of Table Mountain. From itstop, you have a fantastic sight of the the city. From there you canalso see Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela spent his years in jail.


Tchitula TeunsTchitula Teuns / Partnerships Manager
Afterstudying Development Studies (MA) and Account Management (BA), Tchitulahas gained working experience regarding Africa at organisations likeUnicef and NiZA. She is passionate about bridging the gap between theperception and reality of her beloved continent.
Favourite place in Africa: all places where random acts of kindness are practiced.



Emile SchmitzEmile Schmitz / Marketing manager
Emileearned his Master degree in International Management at MaastrichtUniversity. Emile worked with Philips and Vodafone and then decided totravel the world for 1.5 years and to work with NGO’s in Nepal andUganda. Back home, Emile soon started working as a marketing consultantwith Beagle and Relevance Group, creating relevant innovations andbrands for Western markets, but increasingly for emerging markets (‘Baseof the Pyramid’).
Favourite place in Africa: Fort Portal (Uganda), where I worked for 4 months.

Annamara HamersmaAnnamara Hamersma / Content manager
Annamarastudied Journalism in Utrecht, worked as editor/ reporter for Dutchtelevision (SBS6 Shownews). She lived in Shanghai for few months andworked for a Glossy Magazine.
After traveling, she studied PoliticalScience/ International Relations in Amsterdam and researched issuessuch as Chinese oil companies working in Sudan and Angola.



Bernd OutBernd Out / Content manager
Aftergraduating in film studies Bernd has worked as a freelance filmmakerfor mainly NGO's, fairtrade and development organisations. As anindependent filmmaker he has worked worldwide on a variety of mediaproductions including documentaries and commercial projects. Beforestarting at Africa Interactive he worked as a video editor on conceptvisualisations at innovation lab ULURU|Beagle.



Elsie VermeerElsie Vermeer
/ Content manager
Elsiediscovered her passion for video during her Journalism degree inUtrecht. She did an internship at Radio Noord-Holland and the Amsterdamtelevision station AT5. During the course 'Ethnographic Filmmaking' atthe University of Leiden she made her first documentary.
Favorite place in Africa: West Africa, on a journey through Senegal, I became fascinated by the music and people in this part of Africa.


Lucia Galindo MartinezLucia Galindo Martinez / Video-editor
Aftercompleting her Sound Engineering studies at the SAE in Amsterdam Luciaworked in the media world in the capacity of sound technician/editor.During this time she went on to complete studies in Digital FilmPostproduction and Documentary Film making at the International FilmSchool in San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba. One of her favorite writers isthe South African Nobel Prize novelist J.M. Coetzee.



Daniel RodriguezDaniel Rodríguez Rodríguez  /Video-editor
Danielstudied Audiovisual Media in the Málaga University, Spain and inCologne, Germany. He worked as a cameraman and as a editor in germantelevision, until he came back to Spain. In Valencia he worked for thenews in different television channels and production companies, while hekept performing in his own social documentaries.



Joseph Appiah-DolphyneJoseph Appiah-Dolphyne / Editor of AfricaNews.com and part of the editorial team in Ghana.
Joseph'sinterest in journalism developed when he was young. He entered theJournalism school to study a two-year Diploma programme in Journalism.He has worked at many different Ghanaian media organisations.
Favourite place in Africa: Nzulezu, Ghana’s water village

Kennedy OdhiamboKennedy Odhiambo Onyango/ Manager East Africa in Nairobi, Kenya
Kennedywas born and raised in Kenya. His passion for film grew more and moreas he wondered how moving images could be trapped in a screen. Hestudied film and Tv production at European Film College in Denmark. Heis specialised in documentary film production. He has worked withvarious international and local production houses. He has good knowledgein post production and always confident with his
camera.

Lilyholds a Diploma in Film/Video Production from the Kenya Institute ofMass Communication and I specialized in Editing. She has gainedexperience through working for Majengo Media Talent and Big IdeasEntertainment Company in Kenya. Lily enjoys watching thriller movies anddocumentary journals.
