Talk of elections traumatizes Zimbabweans
Zimbabwean villager Thomas Karimba has scars on the face and arms from burns he suffered in an arson attack - a permanent reminder and he shivers at the thought of another poll. Karimba escaped with burns when he bolted from a hut in which his wife and son perished in the run-up to the polls in which scores were killed and thousands left homeless. - Nearly three years on, the torched hut remains without a roof while the walls are crumbling as Karimba has not received any compensation or assistance to rebuild.
Talk that Zimbabwe could hold another election this year to vote a successor to the country's power-sharing government sends shivers down Karimba's spine.

Climate change, which is fast becoming the world's number one development challenge, is blamed for causing changes in rainfall patterns and increasing temperatures. - These conditions alter the productivity, diversity and functions of many ecosystems and livelihoods around the world.
Increases in the frequency and magnitude of drought will in the absence of adaptation, subject vulnerable communities to perpetual disease, poverty and food insecurity.

National healing and reconciliation remains a pipe dream for thousands of victims of political violence which overwhelmed the southern African country Zimbabwe two years ago. - Worse still, the political violence did not only cost life and limb, but its devastating effect on Zimbabwe’s already desperate humanitarian situation will be felt for a long time to come.
Several hundreds of people died, their homes razed, cattle and grain reaped from them while many others were raped.
Some villagers report that they were dragged from their homes, their grain and cattle dragged along with them to torture bases set by war veterans and Zanu PF supporters. While the victims were being assaul…Zimbabwe: Cracks grow in Coalition gov`t

Growing up at a farm in Zimbabwe's Mashonaland West province, Taitos Kanhu, had never imagined that one day he would be scrounging for food in rubbish bins largely covered by paper and plastic, in central Harare, as throwing away even crumbs has become taboo. Not like the old days when Kanhu and a few other street-kid felonious friends enjoyed freebies from the dump sites, food has become a major problem. - “I think this year has been very difficult for us because very few people throw away food. We are going hungry many times,” he said.
Kanhu’s father Tito, was for many years a farm labourer at one of the most productive farms in Karoi, before ZANU PF mobs led by r…$500m for Zimbabwe economy
