   Google Apps Security and Compliance is now an accessible service for Small and Medium Enterprises and big corporations in Africa. The service protects networks from threats such as spam and viruses. The company said it is a giant step towards corporate infrastructure stability for Africa.

   

   Google Apps Security and Compliance provides archiving and discovery options for compliance requirements, a press statement to Africanews.com on Friday said. The latest 2008 Gartner report identified Google Apps Security and Compliance as one of the most innovative and robust security solutions for corporate businesses on the world market, it added.
   
   The statement said: “It has been a long time waiting for Google management’s to make their footprint on the African continent, because not until recently was Google Apps free services available for the individual user only. However the internet giant has now made their full suite of services available for major deployment in Africa designed for SME’s and big corporations.”
   
   It added: “The available Google IT solutions within the African market include Enterprise Search, Geospatial Solutions (Maps, Google Earth and Google Sketchup) as well as Google Apps (Security and Compliance). Google Apps, the Software as a Service (SaaS) offering could save companies huge amounts of money. It is packaged and customised for corporates in a secure way with 24x7x365 Grove Group support, which include Gmail, Google Talk, Google Calendar, Google Page Creator, Google Docs & Spreadsheets and Google Start Page.”
   
   According to the statement there are only a handful of companies leading the way and selling forth the renowned Google Apps Services in Africa and still only a few companies have invested in them. However Grove Group, an EMEA Google Enterprise Partner has in recent months seen extraordinary interest and growth for Google Security solutions throughout Africa.
   
   Some major names that have signed up include: TTCL; Tanzania’s biggest telecommunications company as well as iCap South Africa, Netcare, Sanlam Properties, Ogilvy SA, Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr and INX.
   
   Grove Group believes the strong interest in Google Apps Security and Compliance services will continue to grow as companies try to make provisions for a new generation of corporate mail and network security threats.

   Welcome Google. It's better late than ever. Africa is now seen us the ICT hub and it's good to see all the top corporate firms landing offices here. We just hope you are all coming in our interest and not in the interest of the colonialist. We also embrace you too.
