Many youngsters in the Cameroonian capital are struggling to earn some money to survive by opening car washing points in different parts of the city.
They form groups of two who wash or service a car to receive money in return. The dilemma, which they certainly ignore, is that in that legitimate survival battle, they pollute their own environment as the chemicals they use to wash and the engine oil coming from the cars, run to the streams.
Like in many parts of Africa, Yaounde streams still serve as a source of drinking water for many people. This video looks at that issue from a washing point along the Nouvelle Route Bastos.
