Gadaffi, who enjoyed a mutual relationship with Mugabe, was speaking at the Afro-Arab Festival in Uganda this week. He said President Mugabe and Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni "should stay in power until they have solved all the problems in their countries or die while still in power."

He said the elections are only meant to serve the interests of the western nations who want African countries to adhere to their system of governance.

Gadaffi, said Western sponsored political parties were not conducive for the political terrain in Africa as it aims at bringing the suffering before independence.

He however urged all African leaders to remain strong and resist the advances of the West countries and her allies. Zimbabwe has accused Britain of imposing a regime change through funding of opposition parties such as MDC and new kid on the block, Simba Makoni.

“We need zeal and vision. Africa is still backward and what we are asking from leaders like Museveni is to continue with the war or die in the war,” said Gadaffi.

Gaddafi said Mugabe is a very good leader and should continue fighting for the total freedom of Zimbabweans adding that he should not leave office.

The alleged killing of Americans by the Libyans created sanctions that impacted negatively on oil rich country. To this end the two leaders—Gaddafi and Mugabe established a strong bond despite their rock relationships with Western nations.
