The Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa is striving to alleviate the shortage of international standard hotels in order to satisfy its ever-increasing visitors.

As the city is the seat of international and regional organization such as the African Union Head Quarter, and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), the municipality has licensed 20 investors to build three to five star hotels in order to alleviate the shortage of hotels often observed in the city.
“These investors are now half way of completing the construction,” says a public relation department at the municipality.
“Though our city has luxurious hotels like the Sheraton Addis and the Hilton, we still need more quality hotels that can accommodate the ever-increasing number of visitors,” he said.
In addition to the hotels under construction, several investors are also engaged in building real-estate apartments and commercial centres in the capital.
Many people say that though the city’s building have not yet reached at the level to be compared with buildings of other modern cities of Africa such as Johannesburg , Lagos and Cairo today, Addis seems to catch up with them in the near future.
