Ramaphosa is expected to offer his expertise to the Kofi Annan team as it embarks on the most controversial phase of the talks. Apart from Annan, the mediation team comprises former Tanzanian President Benjamin Mkapa and Mrs Graca Machel, the wife of former South African Nobel laureate and former President, Mr Nelson Mandela.
In the PNU team are the most vocal Justice minister, Ms Martha Karua, Education minister, Prof Sam Ongeri, and Mbooni MP, Mr Mutula Kilonzo who is offering legal expertise to the team, while Hon. Musalia Mudavadi, Pentagon member, Mr William Ruto, Aldai MP, Dr Sally Kosgei, and lawyer, Mr James Orengo are representing the case for the ODM.
The team is determined to break agenda Number 4, on the negotiation table as it provides the most critical aspects of the talks since it addresses the legality and the legitimacy of the presidential polls.
Kofi Annan is expected to deal with the question of how the ECK blundered and how it ended up proclaiming President Kibaki as the winner of the disputed elections despite both local, regional and international observers returning a verdict that described the elections as widely flawed and full of irregularities.
The talks continue as the shadow of wanton destruction of property and systematic slaughter of innocent Kenyans continued in various parts of the country.
On Saturday, over 26 people were killed in Kericho as they protested against the killing of another ODM legislator David Too who was gunned down by an errant police officer. The killing has sparked trails of violence in his constituency
At the Borabu-Sotik-Bureti border, 10 people were killed in retaliatory attacks between the Kalenjin and Kisii communities.
At least a three schools - Koiyet Primary and St Ann Academy on the Sotik side of the border and Ribaita Primary School in Borabu were torched bring learning to a stop.
In Trans Mara District, attackers were armed with assault rifles as they engaged the police in gun fire.
The former UN Secretary-General, to reach a compromise over the disputed presidential poll which has put President Mwai Kibaki ahaed of ODM's Raila Odinga sparking post-election violence which has so far claimed over 1500 people and over 500,000 are internally displaced.
The talks come amid pressure from the UN and the international community warning that external action might be needed if the political leaders fail to reach a compromise.
Raila Odinga has appealed for the deployment of a UN peace keeping force warning that the police and military are not neutral and have been compromised.
Rwandan President Paul Kagame last week proposed for a military take over in Kenya arguing that he had to do the same for Rwanda to avert a genocide to escalate.
