Newly elected Ainamoi Member of Parliament David Kimutai Too was Thursday morning shot dead, Eldoret's West Indies Hotel.

Police Commissioner Major General Hussein Ali said preliminary investigations showed that the shooting was a result of a love triangle.

He said the suspect, who is also a police officer Andrew Moeche, accosted the MP who was allegedly dating his(constable's) wife at the hotel and shot at both of them.

Ali said the lady, Eunice Chepkwony, who is also a police constable, was admitted to a local hospital in a critical condition.

The commissioner urged members of the public to remain calm as police launch investigations.

"I'm also asking leaders not to politicise the issue," he said.

Too who is a first time legislator becomes the second legislator in the one month old 10th Parliament to be killed in a week's time.

On Tuesday, Embakasi MP Mugabe Were was shot and killed outside his gate.

The number of elected MPs has now reduced to 204 following the deaths.

By the time MPs were sworn in there were 207 legislators out of the requisite 210. Emuhaya MP Kenneth Marende was elected speaker of the National assembly and his seat automatically became vacant.

The Electoral Commission of Kenya cancelled elections in three other constituencies citing electoral irregularities.

The constituencies which are not represented in Parliament currently include Kamukunji, Embakasi, Kilgoris, Wajir North, Emuhaya and Ainamoi.

The Electoral Commission of Kenya is expected to hold a by-election for these elctoral constituencies.
