Kenya: Opposition considers ICC option

    Speaking Monday evening the opposition threatened to head to the International Court of Justice in the Hague to prosecute the government for ordering the police to shoot unarmed protesters.

    In a swift rejoinder Tuesday the government now wants an International Arrest Warrant issued againist ODM key member William Ruto whom they accuse for allegedly masterminding the "ethnic cleansing in some parts of Rift Valley."

    Danson Mungatana who was elected by collegues to be the new Secretary and spokesman of the Party of National Unity (PNU), ODM-Kenya and a host of other small parties who have formed a coaloition said "the government has sufficient reason to believe that Ruto organized the ethnic killings and we aready to present our evidence in an international court."

    "Some people are just using Raila Odinga's name to hide their evil scheme, but let them know that we will hold them personally accountable for everything that hyappens," said Mungatana.

    He spoke as Kenya's capital Nairobi become tthe venue of high level diplomatic efforts as Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni, South Africa's former First Lady Graca Machel jetted in and the nation awaited the arrival of immediate former United Nations boss Kofi Annan expected to arrive at 1900 GMT.

    President Mwai Kibaki and his Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka personally recieved all the mediators as they jetted in at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).
