Kenyan Nobel laureate sets up peace tent

    Globally renowned environmentalist and Nobel Peace Laureate Prof Wangari Maathai breaks today her silence on the Kenyan political impasse when she is expected to address an international Press Conference at her Green Belt Movement offices in Nairobi.

    According to a brief statement during the event, the Nobel Laureate is expected to unveil a ‘Peace Tent’.

    The tent will provide a forum for Kenyan to bare the truth on the ground, "seek a path towards healing and sign up in support of the efforts to initiate dialogue between the government and the opposition."

    The statement reads: "Kenyans can sign as an appeal to President Mwai Kibaki and Hon. Raila Odinga to embrace dialogue for a peaceful settlement of the current political crisis in the country."
