Morocco signs agreement with English oil firm

    Morocco and England's MND Maroc ltd, a subsidiary of Moravské Naftové doly Group from the Czech Republic, Thursday in Rabat, Morocco, signed an oil agreement and recognition contract.

    In a statement, the National Oil and Mining Agency (ONHYM) said the 'recognition agreement' concerns the Onshore zone of Ouarzazate, which covers a surface of 24,545.6 square kilometres.

    The oil agreement, signed for an initial period of three years, provides for geological and geophysical works as well as drilling in the Eastern region of Morocco,

    MND said it would execute the geological and geophysical works within 12 months.

    ONHYM has signed 22 oil agreements and six recognition contracts with 25 companies, in addition to granting 80 research and 6 recognition licences.
