  1. AfricaNews - Peter Vlam in Haarlem, The Netherlands
'Creating a virtual place where people in 'real life' and 'Second Life' can collide and meet.' This is one of the goals of Uthango, a South African not-for-profit company. Second Life is a virtual space on the internet. Uthango is the first to open its virtual offices in Second Life.

From here, Uthango will publish a social magazine and address digital divide, by exploring the value of social networking. Uthango is actively pursuing the creation of a gateway for Africans to access this educational and social 3D-world. One of the main objectives of this step, is to create a dynamic platform for interaction between developments experts and practitioners around the world - in order to contribute to solutions for complex problems.

Uthango  will be working in parallel at establishing internet hubs in communities. And, they are seeking partnerships with mobile telecoms on mobile applications for Virtual Africa, and to develop links between mobile space and Second Life".

Thank you to AfricaNews for telling its reader about our Virtual Africa Project. Uthango Social Investments has a team of people that will show you around SL when you come inworld. Make sure you meet up with us in our group 'SECOND LIFE AFRICA' when you are there. Also, we look forward to - soon - bring you a sim/island where you can experience Africa in an immersive 3D way together with the rest of the world.

Welcome Alanagh Recreant and the entire SL Africa team. I am an SL resident living in RL Brooklyn, NY. One thing I feel like SL has been missing is a significant African (Pan-African) presence, and I hope this will be the beginning of a surge in Africans in-world. Please feel free to contact me anytime if you need help in any way with your SL experience.
