That's the substance of the two years renewable Partnership Agreement signed on Wednesday 30 January 2013 in Douala by the Chief Executive Officer of MTN Cameroon Mr Karl Toriola and the President of the Professional Football League of Cameroon (LFPC), General Pierre Semengue.
MTN will provide the Professional Football League of Cameroon with a budgetary allocation to be used in the purchase of sports equipment for the 28 clubs of the MTN Elite One and Elite Two championships, as well as paying the salaries and training allowances of the players of these clubs.
Beyond this Partnership Agreement with the Professional Football League of Cameroon, MTN has announced the relaunch of its sports infrastructure programme which aims at constructing modern stadiums as per FIFA standards in the 10 regions of Cameroon. Two municipal stadiums have already been constructed in the localities of MBOUDA in the West region and GUIDER in the North; and three new ones will be built in 2013.
MTN is recognized since January 2002 as the strategic partner of Cameron football and is contributing significantly towards the development of that football. According to Karl TORIOLA, “as an African company, MTN is proud of contributing towards the development of Cameroonian football which has given quite much to Africa”.
Satisfied by the implication and contribution of MTN towards the growth of local football, General Pierre Semengue noted that, “MTN’s support to Cameroonian football is an example of corporate citizenship to be lauded”.
