Holy Family Hospitaller of St. John of Ireland has reiterated the importance of community based rehabilitation-CBR in Monze district of Zambia.
Speaking when she officially opened the 2013 annual general meeting in Monze today, Supervisory Board Chair Jane McEvoy said Child Development Centers are an important tool in the promotion of CBR.
She said there is need to promote CBR and scale up the rehabilitations in communities.
"Its a pity that people from the communities are not aware of such initiatives like community based rehabilitation and that these are important in integrating people back into their society with less international help", McEvoy said.
"There is also need to improve the social-economic status and fight stigma and misconceptions on disabilities", She added.
And speaking at the same function, Group CEO, John Pepper promised to provide resources that will help fight disabilities in society.
He said people with disabilities need support from everyone adding that with the support from Ireland, Monze will improve the support on disabilities.
"I want to affirm our support to Holy Family Hospitaller for what it is doing and we are happy that the funds are put to good use. I also want to confirm that financial support towards community based rehabilitation will always be available because of the noble work you are doing.
