Cameroon: 3000 Chadian refugees to return home January 2013

    Some 3000 Chadian refugees who have been living in Cameroon for several years will in January 2013 voluntarily return to their homeland, Chad.

    The announcement was made in Cameroon recently during the signing ceremony of a tripartite agreement for the voluntary repatriation of the Chadian refugees between the governments of Cameroon, Chad and the United Nations High Commission for refugees.

    According to the agreement, the voluntary repatriation of Chadian refugees will begin in January 2013.

    The Chadian Ambassador to Cameroon reassured is country men that measures have been taken to ensure their reintegration into the Chadian society once they return home.

    It will be recalled that thousands of Chadian refugees had entered Cameroon while fleeing from fighting between Chadian rebels and government forces.
