- Posted on Tuesday 31 January 2012 - 10:15Walter Nana Wilson, AfricaNews reporter in Buea, CameroonThe Sudanese national team has sealed a historic win over the Stallions of Burkina Faso. For the first time since 1970, the Sudanese proceeded to the quarter-finals stage of the AFCON. The all-locally-based players that constitute the Sudanese squad beat Burkina Faso 2-1 in their last Group B match to pick up four points that has propelled them to the envious quarter-finals level of the ongoing Orange AFCON in Equatorial-Guinea and Gabon.
Sudan managed to pick their first AFCON win in 42 years as they struck two past Burkina Faso thanks to a brace from Mudather Al Tahir, while a stoppage time goal from Issiaka Ouedraogo was merely a consolation.
Burkina Faso sprung on the attack right from the starting whistle as Jonathan Pitroipa made a decent run into the box, as he did well to combine with Charles Kabore but there was too much scrambling in the box for Burkina Faso to unleash a shot.
During the action Bahaa Eldin Abdallah took a stud near to his temple and was forced into being taken off in the sixth minute of the game, to be replaced by Musaab Omer.
Thirteen minutes in, Beli Moumouni Dagano had a decent opportunity as he struck a 30-yard long-range free kick, but it went over the bar. Dagano saw another chance go begging as he headed it just wide of goal.
In the other last Group B match, Ivory Coast defeated Angola 2-0 in Malabo, Monday night to finish on top of group thanks to a first half strike from Emmanuel Eboue at the 33rd minute and a second half goal from Wilfried Bony at the 63rd minute.
The Angolans failed to respond and saw themselves crashing out of the tournament after finishing on equal points with Sudan, but with an inferior goal difference.
Following the aforementioned results, the first quarter-finals pairs go thus; Zambia Vs Sudan and Ivory Coast Vs Equatorial Guinea come February 4 2012.

bakeca incontri - Posted on Saturday 28 April 2012 07:36The Elephants are coached by Francoi Zaahoui. The 49-year-old former Cote D’Ivoire international, who succeeded Sven-Goran Eriksson, began his tenure by leading the Elephants to a 1-0 friendly win over Italy in London in August 2010. But he has yet to really prove whether he is the man behind the team’s recent successes, or if the star players are the main influence. cell phone spy software
