Ghana Recognizes Libya's NTC

  1. The Government of Ghana has become the latest country to openly recognized the Libyan National Transitional Council (NTC). Ghana announced that it has established all diplomatic recognition to the NTC as the legitimate ruling authority in Libya.
This was contained in an official statement by Ghana’s Deputy Minister for Information, Mr. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.
The statement said, before arriving at the decision , Government had “taken due account of the political and security situation in Libya particularly, the NTC’s effective control over a greater part of the country and the commitment of the NTC to democratic and pluralistic elections”.

Government of Ghana has therefore called on the NTC “to work towards a fast and smooth transition to constitutional and democratic governance and ensure the safety and protection of African immigrants in Libya”.
It also said that the NTC should discriminate on the Liyan people

However, it can be said that the Libyan NTC now has almost all control in the oil rich nation.
