They are Deputy Prime-Minister Uhuru Kenyatta, Industrialisation Minister Henry Kosgei, former Higher Education Minister William Ruto, Head of Civil Service and Secretary to the Cabinet Francis Muthaura, former Police Commissioner Major-General Hussein Ali and a journalist who works with a local vernacular FM station Joshua Sang.

While releasing the list of the suspects, Ocampo asked them to declare that they will surrender to the court voluntarily or else he will be forced to issue arrest warrants. He also issued stringent conditions that would guarantee the suspects some freedom, and which, failure to adhere to, will lead to the arrest warrants being issued against the six.

"Let me be clear. If the suspects do not comply with the conditions set by the Chamber, I will request arrest warrants. If there is any indication of bribes, intimidation or threats, I will request arrest warrants. I expect the suspects to indicate to the Chamber shortly their intention to surrender voluntarily." He added.

Prior to the announcement, Kenyan media houses were a busy lot, beaming analyses from different legal counsels on the possible names on the list.

Some of the names came as a surprise to many a Kenyan as various people expected to be on the list turned out to be left out, as the least expected made it to the roll call.
