Tanzania: Internet users get bundle laptops

    Zantel Tanzania launched a scheme where its customers will get internet bundled laptops at easy payment terms lasting up to 13 months. Chief Commercial Officer Nitish Malik in Dar es Salaam the company wishes to address the issue of computer penetration in the East African country which currently remains low.

    “Zantel will continue to address difficulties and bottlenecks that our customers are facing. We want to ensure they enjoy products and services that are tailor made and satisfy customer needs,” he said.

    Zantel, he added, was proud to champion internet growth and penetration in Tanzania by providing affordable and flexible solutions.

    "Zantel is geared to avail the services to as many customers as possible," added Malik.

    There is huge demand for internet services in Tanzania, though high computer prices remain a major hindrance in the growth of the industry and denies people the service accessibility.

    The scheme will allow individuals to have special payment scheme to be paid on monthly instalments for a period of 13 months.

    Zantel customers could choose a laptop model from a variety of models - including Accer Aspire, Dell, Hp and Mac Book Pro. The deal would include 1GB monthly bundle, a modem, open Microsoft Office, and an anti-virus already installed and configured.

    The loan will include accer aspire D 255 whose loan amount on monthly payment is 99,900/- Dell and HP 140,900/- per month and Mac Book Pro 13 has a monthly payment of 243,900/- .

    He said that to get the laptop loan, customers will simply fill application forms at any Zantel shops. Application will then be processed for verification before the loan is approved and after approval the customer will be called to come and collect the laptop model of choice, reported the Daily News online.
