Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Guatemala, Kenya, Mali, Nepal and Rwanda are also to benefit. They are part of the GHI Plus first set to also receive additional technical and management resources to speed up implementation of the GHI approach.

Integrated programmes and investments across the spectrum of infectious diseases, maternal and child health, family planning, and health systems activities are targeted by the fund.

“Plus countries will provide enhanced opportunities to build upon existing public health programmes, improve their performance, and work in close collaboration with partner governments, across the US government agencies and with global partners,” says the release.

The US government will ensure that investments align with national priorities and build capacity through the GHI coordination with partner countries.
