The 14 years jail sentence for Malawi's fist gay couple Tionge Chimbalanga and Steven Monjeza has recentry attracted criticism from the international community and has also put Malawi in dark corner from recieving aid.
Almost all major donors USA,UK and Norway including pop star Madonna have all talked tough on the 14 years setence .
This time as UN secreatary General Ban Ki moon will be on his two days official visit to the country ,Malawians are anxiously waiting to hear if the UN boss will comment on the gay sentence.
While in the country the UN boss will address malawi's national assembly , meeting president Bingu Wa Mutharika as well as touring the Millenium villages showcasing UN products.
But a vox pop by Africanews in lilongwe revealed that many Malawians are waiting to hear his comment on the issue.
A businness man in the city of lilongwe ,Maxwell chilembwe said the UN boss visit has come at aright time as the country is facing international pressure on gay sentence.
He said ,"I think if the UN boss is going to say anything about the gay sentence because doing so will at least give a clear picture on how the UN family is treating the issue"
A 30 year old woman Angella Jam said the UN boss comment on the issue will help Malawi to map the way forward on the issue.
However according to the UN malawi office they havent indicated on whether he will comment or not .
