    So who is Samuel Eto’o?

    Full Name: Samuel Eto'o
    Nationality: Cameroonian
    Date of Birth: 10/03/1981
    Position: Striker
    Current club: Inter (Italy)

The man who still boasts the amazing statistic of scoring the first goal for his team in any final he's ever featured in didn't disappoint. Barcelona went on to win the treble (the Spanish Liga, the Copa Del Rey and the UEFA Champions League). Completing his biggest season at Barcelona with 36 goals in 52 appearances for the Blaugrana, Eto'o was surprisingly transferred to Italian Champions Inter in exchange for Zlatan Ibrahimovic and a hefty cheque for an Italian side thrilled to get a two-time winner of the trophy they've been pursuing the most.

With the Indomitable Lions, Eto'o has had a big year as well. If the results of the National team were more than worrying at first, they brought in big changes in new coach Paul Le Guen and his insistence on having "the face of the team become its captain".

Entering a new era in Cameroonian football was important, a year prior to the first African World Cup, where Cameroon will of course be considered as one of the crowd's favourites. And Samuel Eto'o was evidently the man that symbolised that transition the best.

With accomplishments both on and off the pitch at country and club levels, Eto'o is the front-runner for this year's CAF Player of the Year award. No one has won more trophies than he did and nobody has had more impact on the teams he's been part of this year, not even his diminutive Argentinian ex-team-mate.
