SOMALIA: Mogadishu gets new Mayor


  1. Somalis moderate President Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed appointed new mayor for Somalis war raged capital Mogadishu.

    Ceremony held presidential palace in Mogadishu on Friday participated by transitional government officials, including president Sheikh Shariif, Speaker of the parliament Sheik Aden Madobe cabinet and parliamentarians as well as government and AMISOM officials was read before the attendance a decree signed by the TFG president which gives Abdirisak Mohamed Nur as governor and mayor of Mogadishu.

    Sheikh Sharif also nominated Abdirisak Dahir Abdulle, the deputy governor of Banadir region for the political and social affairs while Warsame Mohamed Hassan, appointed the second deputy governor of Banadir region for peace and stability and Iman Nour Iikar the third deputy governor of Banadir region for the economic and administration.

    Somali Broadcasting Corporation (SBC) reports the out going former governor Mohamed Osman Ali congratulated to the new mayor of Banadir and mentioned he is happy dismissal as the governor.

    The new Mogadishu administration is facing huge challenges including lack of security, fighting with heavily armed Islamist oppositions whom control large parts of the capital city.
