Dr. Isa Bio, Nigeria Minister of Transport said the contract will include a provision of telecommunication facilities that will enable greater efficiency at the Nigeria Railway Corporation. The minister also said that the rail construction is necessary at this moment because it has ordered 25 locomotive trains from General Electric, GE.

“This will ease movement of people and goods around the country as well as reduce pressure of the roads… the rail sector is the anchor of transport business and the forefront of movement of people and goods” he was quoted by The Guardian Newspapers.

Dr. Bio also promised to do a total overhaul of the rail system across Nigeria in order to achieve a modern train system
