The Junior Flames who were participating at the tournament for the first time followed African champions Gambia who also went out on Saturday after they drew with Colombia 2-2.

Nigeria and Burkina Faso are the only African countries who made it to the last 16 with Algeria also crashing out.

Malawi who were in Group E went out without a point having also lost their other games 2-0 to United Arab Emirates and 1-0 to United States of America. They needed to win in their last game.

Despite going out, the team has won praise at the tournament for their impressive football and individual skills. Their young strikers Milanzi and Tony Chitsulo could land themselves deals, AfricaNews reporter said.
