A report attributed to the spokesperson of the UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-Moon, which was obtained from the United Nations Information Center, named three people as members of the Commission. They are Mohamed Bedjaoui of Algeria, as Chairman; Françoise Ngendahyo Kayiramirwa of Burundi and Pramila Patten of Mauritius.

According to the report, all the three commission members, with remarkable experiences in the judiciary, are expected to travel shortly to New York for a meeting with the Secretary-General, before heading for Geneva and then Guinea to commence their assignment. The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, the report added, will provide support to the Commission.

It could be recalled that the UN announced its intention to establish this commission as far back as October 16 this year.
