KENYA'S prison warders across the country have downed their tools demanding risk allowances and a ten percent salary increase in the next 24 hours or they will release prisoners in their custody.

The move by the prison wardens comes at a time when police officers and their Administration police counterparts have been awarded a Shs.5,000 risk allowance backdated to January.

The wardens are at this moment not manning the watchtowers, nor have they transported various remandees to court.

This is the first time Prison Wardens are downing their tools. Prison Commandant Gabriel Omondi is scheduled to address a press conference in the afternoon.
