Zimbabwe: Tsvangirai back to jail

    Movement for Democratic Change leader Morgan Tsvangirai and his campaign team have been detained in Kwekwe and are currently at Kwekwe police station. MDC spokesman Nelson Chamisa said that Tsvangirai and his team were on a victory tour early Thursday.

    "President tsvangirai and his campaign team have been detained at Kwekwe police station. they were on the victory tour in the Midlands province," said Chamisa.

    Chamisa also said that MDC MP elect for Chgutu West Takalani Matibe has been arrested and his home destroyed after Tsvangirai had visited his home in Chegutu this morning.

    "Thousands of people came out to greet President Tsvangirai. However, soon after he had left Hon. Matibe's residence, a group of Zanu PF supporters descended there and destroyed his property.The house was severely damaged while the Zanu PF thugs also looted some of his property," said the MDC spokesperson.

    Meanwhile, the rural home of Kwekwe MP, Hon. Blessing Chebundo was last night also razed to the ground in Kazangarare, Hurungwe by Zanu PF militia. No one has been arrested.


    Armed Zanu PF attacked the homestead last night and Hon. Chebundo's relatives including his grandmother who were asleep there had to escape from after they had been attacked.


    Four of the relatives have since been hospitalised.
