Zim journalist Frank Chikowore free at last

    A High Court judge has granted bail to jailed Zimbabwean journalist Frank Chikowore who was arrested about three weeks ago on charges of public violence. Chikowore, who is also AfricaNews reporter, was arrested on the same day with 50 members of the opposition.

    They were also granted bail after the opposition called for a nationwide strike to press for the release of presidential results.

    Justice Ben Hlatshwayo overturned a ruling by a lower court which had said they that they must remain in custody as the situation in the country was 'volatile.'

    Lawyer for the MDC Alec Muchadehama said: "We are happy that justice has prevailed and they have regained their liberty."
