Zambia has joined a move taken by Mozambique to fully co-operate with Rwanda on the handing over of genocide suspects that might be hiding that country. "Zambian government is more than ready to co-operate and handover" any genocide suspects that are hiding in that country, officials have said.
Mozambique’s Foreign Minister Oldemiro Baloi has also indicated that Mozambique will cooperate with Rwanda over genocide suspects.

Baloi’s comments come after Rwanda accused Mozambique, Malawi and Zambia of being unwilling to help hunt those suspected of involvement in the 1994 killings.

Some 800,000 ethnic Tutsis and moderate Hutus were killed in the 100-day massacre.

Last month, Bosco Mutangana, the head of Rwanda's unit tracking genocide suspects said hundreds of "fugitives" were living in southern Africa despite many diplomatic attempts to have them extradited to face prosecution.

Following Mutangana's remarks, Zambian government spokesperson, Ronnie Shikapwasha told reporters in Lusaka that Zambia has always been ready to handover any genocide suspects provided a carte Blanche of all suspects was given to the Zambian authorities.
