"I am here because of the World Cup. I believe in the ability of the Ghana national team to qualify for the World Cup once again. It is a wonderful challenge which would not be easy but I am hopeful of leading Ghana to South Africa," Milovan Rajevac said after his appointment by the Ghana Football Association.

During the 2006 World Cup in Germany, the coach who watched the Black Stars exhibiting excellent performances has said qualifying the team to South Africa 2010 remains a big motivation.
On March 29, 2009, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, Ghana, the Serbian will lead the Ghana team as they come against the Squirrels of Benin at the final qualify stage of the Angola and South Africa 2010.
After assisting his team to win silver at the maiden African Nations Championships in Ivory Coast, he has swiftly set his target on the World Cup qualification.
The Serbian has also picked his 22 man squad from both the foreign and local based players.
Coach Milovan is optimistic that he has some players in mind because in football there would be changes as always because of loss of form and injuries.
“There will always be special players. These are players who have to do something different for the team at different times. They play special roles for us,” he said.
Much as Coach Milovan remains resolute of victory, he has cautioned his team not to be complacent calls for respect for all opponents.
Already the coach has called 5 local based players who made it in the maiden CHAN Tournament.
“There are a lot of teams that for some people look not very good. But such teams have a lot of their players playing in Europe. Benin for instance has a lot of players playing in the French First Division and those teams need the respect” he added.
Milovan was appointed in August 2008 and was chosen ahead of Austrian favourite Josef Hikersberger and earns US$45,000 per month.
