Ten players have been nominated by the FIFA Technical Study Group including Ghana Black Stars striker, Asamoah Gyan for the 2010 World Cup Adidas Golden Ball award and midfielder, Andre Dede Ayew in line to win the Hyundai Best Young player award at the 2010 FIFA world cup.

The Adidas Golden Ball is the official FIFA trophy for the “Best Player of the Tournament” and the winners will be announced after the final on 11 July.
Gyan will be competing for the award against Andres Iniesta, Lionel Messi, Mesut Oezil, Arjen Robben, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Wesley Sneijder, David Villa and Xavi
Aside, Ayew who has been shortlisted for the Hyundai Best Young player award which officially recognizes the positive impact made by young footballers and open to all participating players under 21 years old will also be contested in line with Germany’s Thomas Muller and Mexico’s Giovanni Dos Santos.
The winner will receive the coveted Hyundai Best Young Player Award trophy and a new Hyundai Tucson ix 35.
Seventh best
Meanwhile, Ghana’s Black Stars has been ranked the seventh best team at the 2010 World Cup even though they were eliminated at the quarter final stage.
The current position of the Black Stars serves as a great improvement on the team’s ranking after its 13th position in the Germany 2006 FIFA World Cup, where they were also the only African team to have gone past the first round.
Five-time World Champions, Brazil and Argentina were ranked fifth and sixth respectively.
Four-time Africa champions, Cameroon who lost all their three games were ranked 31st just above Korea DPR, who perched at the bottom (32nd spot), and also recording the heaviest defeat by losing 0-7 to Portugal.
Cote d’Ivoire placed 17th, hosts South Africa are 20th, Nigeria and Algeria on 27th and 28th respectively.

The final standings of the competition was released by World soccer governing body, Fifa on Thursday ahead of the third-place playoff and the grand finale on Sunday, July 11.
